All vehicle rentals in Brighton are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for the rental. In cases of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Brighton, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age requirements may differ based on the vehicle type, with potential extra fees for those under 25. A valid, full driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Payment information and a security deposit must also be provided. Additional terms outlined in the Rental Agreement must be met.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, by telephone, or in person at our Brighton office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are generally payable upon collecting the vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where appropriate. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions securely handled by trusted payment processors.
4. Car Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by you. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated, and charges may be applied accordingly. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at the start of your rental; refueling charges will apply if the fuel level is lower. If you expect to return the vehicle late, please notify us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur additional fees. You will be held accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that occur during your rental period, along with a processing fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. You can find detailed coverage information and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be offered to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options closely. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage applies. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms is your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited uses of the rental vehicle:
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is strictly prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous pursuits is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials or substances is forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is unacceptable. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is illegal. The vehicle must not be used for purposes it was not intended for, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Additionally, driving beyond agreed geographical boundaries without authorization is prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Brighton will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid within the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law in Brighton
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
